Holidays in the snow

By Antoine the 31 May 2017
Winter holidays are coming and you still don't know where to go ?

I decided to tell you about Avoriaz, a ski station at 1800 meters of altitude in Haute-Savoie. It's a part of the ski area « Les Portes du Soleil », one of the largest in the world with 650km of slopes. You can go to Swizterland from Avoriaz and discover the impressive Mur Suisse.
At the top, the view is breathtaking ! Stiff and full of bumps, the Mur Suisse is one of the most dangerous black ski slope in the world.

At the station, the access to cars is not allowed, we can only walk or take a horse sleigh. Stop driving or taking the bus in the morning, in Avoriaz you are immediately at the bottom of the slopes. You put on your skis after going out of your accommodation and you are ready for a day of gliding.

For my part it's a real advantage, a small village under the snow and without the car, it's like a fairy tale.

For your accommodation, you can rent a flat or a chalet depending on how many people you are. There are also some hotels if you want. In the village, you will find : bakeries, restaurants, bars, small markets and equipment rental.

Avoriaz is renowned for being one of the best family resorts, due to its infrastructures that offers to families and children (especially the children's village).

In 2012, an aquatic center opened, the Arquariaz, a real tropical space. It includes games and attractions for children and a large pool. Ideal to warm you up after a day of skiing.

There is a bowling alley to spend a great evening with your family of friends, and there area also pool tables and diverse game machines.

You can participate in a sledge run at the end of your day, with a monitor, you will discover the speed of a sledge on a red slope ! Then, the going back to the station is done with the cable car.
